If it involves two wheels, Mike’s probably done it. Mike also spent a year as a professional adventure racer and will have a go at anything if it will help him become a better coach.

ABOUT:

Mike is a really keen coach whose base philosophy is about doing the minimum amount of fitness training to extract the most amount of fun out of your riding time! Mike is really driven to ensure his athletes enjoy their coaching and get fast not only through their fitness but their technique too – a skillful rider is a fast rider.

One of Mike’s real goals in coaching is to produce well rounded and healthy individuals, not just talented bike racers. This means he has a focus on good nutrition, producing healthy (not just fit!) riders and ensuring athletes enjoy their riding on both a physical and mental level. This means he will sometimes set sessions that don’t directly work on cycling fitness and power and instead work on addressing muscular or physical imbalances to benefit the athlete as a whole.

As result of this, Mike has a fascination with just about every aspect of bike racing, from nutrition to sports psychology. If you have a question about anything, do ask and he’ll try to help!
